Mr. William J. Naydan is the director of Choirs at Arcadia Univeristy. He retired from Hatboro-Horsham HS in 2016 and was the director of Choral Activities at HHHS from
1991-2016. He was the choir director at Central Bucks West from 1982 to 1991. He also served as choir director at Lafayette College from 1992 to 2000 and Chestnut Hill College from
2004 to 2013. He received a B.A. in Foreign Languages (Russian & German) from Lafayette College, an M.A. in Opera Performance from Temple University with
further study at Chestnut Hill College, Villanova, West Chester, U of Pittsburgh and Westminster Choir College.
He has served as President of District 11 of PMEA, Curriculum and Instruction Chair for High School music and helps run choral auditions for District 11. He was the 1990
Citation of Excellence Award winner from District 11 of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, 1994 Teacher of the Year from the HHSD and is listed in Who's Who Among Americas Teachers.
He is a clinician, adjudicator, guest conductor and lecturer and in 2000 was named a Distinguished Music Educator by the Music Educators National Conference from PA, one of only eight
educators so honored in the state. He was a semi-finalist in 2002 for PA Teacher of the Year.
Mr. Naydan has had articles published in State and National journals on topics ranging from preparing choirs for adjudication to technology for the
music educator. Mr. Naydan has done presentations at local, state and all-eastern conferences on Block Scheduling, technology and choral pedagogy. He is also the 2005 recipient of the
James R. Stewart Distinguished Service Award from the PA Music Educators Association. And since the summer of 2008, he has been a guest conductor with American Music Abroad's Silver Tour of Europe.
In April of 2009, Mr. Naydan was one of seven educators chosen for the inaugural class of the PA Music Educators Association Hall of Fame.
He is active in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association and the American Choral Directors Association, serving on various capacities for both organizations on the
state and Eastern levels. He studied voice under Gary Glaize and Richard Allen and choral studies with Sir David Wilcocks and Robert Shaw. He has
commissioned works from Fran Nesta, Michael Larkin, Carl Nygard, Jr. and M. Roger Holland for his choirs.
Mr. Naydan is also the founding
director of the Bucks Mont Camerata Chorus. The chorus' debut was in the spring of 2014 and is open to all community singers, alumni and alumnae. You do not need to be an alum to join us! Just a
desire to sing.
